Jiang Jinsong, deputy general manager of Hangzhou Langtuo Biotechnology Co., Ltd., told reporters that the LED industry chain tends to be saturated, and the civilian market may not be fully opened because of the cost problem.

Customize the spectrum for the chickens

As early as 2009, several founders of Langtuo Technology began research on the spectrum of LED lighting culture in cooperation with Zhejiang University.

“Under ordinary energy-saving lamps, chickens are more prone to excitement. The density of breeding is large. If the light is not well controlled, there will be fighting between each other. Once a chicken has a wound, it will make other chickens more Excitement, and then lead to more serious fighting, leading to serious mortality." Jiang Jinsong said.

Another consequence of the fight is that the dust in the chicken house that is already dusty is more serious, and it is easy to induce respiratory diseases in chickens, which is also an important cause of chicken death.

Because the spectrum of LED lights can be modulated, after taking countless lamps for experiments, Langtuo's team found that under a specific LED spectrum, the chickens have reasonable exercise habits, but the mood is calm and pleasant, rarely occurs. In the battle, the chicken house will never be "feetless". In the same way, the dust in the chicken house is reduced, the environment is improved, and the chickens live more comfortably and harmoniously.

Langto's team went on to develop a systematic lighting strategy. “Chickens have different needs for light in different farming periods. We integrate the lighting strategy that meets its needs into a control system. For example, we used to dim the light, relying on the farmer to change the bulb manually. Now, it is OK to operate directly in the control terminal, and it also improves labor efficiency."

After a year or two of experiments in Tianjin's farms, Langtuo's team found that each batch of chickens with LED light source was stronger than the original one, and the mortality rate dropped by more than 2 percentage points. Originally higher.

Seeing and saving after one year of investment

The energy saving of LED lamps is well known. To achieve the same illumination brightness, the power required for LED lamps is only about one-third of that of energy-saving lamps. For example, a 15 watt energy-saving lamp, if it is replaced by an LED lamp, only needs about 5 watts. In terms of service life, the average life of LED lights is 40,000 to 50,000 hours, while energy-saving lamps are only 6000-8000 hours.

"Ordinary energy-saving lamps are about 15 yuan, and LED lights are at 40 yuan. The initial investment is large. This is also the reason why there are not many LED lights in the farm." Jiang Jinsong said.

However, Jiang Jinsong calculated an account, a 1,500-square-meter chicken house, which is worth more than 130 lights. If LED lights are installed, 40 yuan for one lamp, the total lamp is invested more than 5,000 yuan. If you use ordinary energy-saving lamps, the price is around 2,000 yuan. However, because the life of energy-saving lamps is short, it takes about 40 days to replace a batch of white chickens for about 40 days. One year later, the cost of LED lights is actually the same as that of energy-saving lamps, from the savings in electricity bills and the cost of light bulbs. At the beginning of the second year, the saved electricity bill is equal to the previous cost savings.

“By studying, we have designed a better model that fits the chicken's circadian rhythm. Now most of the chicken farms have a lighting time of about 20 hours a day, and we control it in 18 hours, which also saves lighting costs. "Jiang Jinsong said.

Subdivision is an inevitable trend in the LED industry

In the past few years, LED has been a sunrise industry that many people are optimistic about, but because of blind glimpses, the industry is quickly oversupplied, and many LED companies have a hard time.

"At present, there are not many enterprises that are truly competitive in China." Jiang Jinsong said: "The most upstream of the LED industry is to make light-emitting chips, but this core technology is basically in the hands of European, American, Japanese, Taiwanese and other enterprises. It is packaging technology. There are several domestic companies that do a good job. The downstream is the application, and a lot of companies are doing this. Because the cost has not yet reached the level that the public can generally accept, the entire industry chain is saturated. ”

Therefore, some domestic LED companies have set their sights on the industry segment. In terms of poultry farming, in addition to Langtuo Technology, several domestic companies in Shenzhen, Shandong and Harbin are focusing on this market.

"The most done now is in the aquaculture industry, such as poultry, plant lighting, and aquatic products. Most of them are still in the research stage, and there are not many large-scale industrializations," Jiang Jinsong said. And through the improvement of lighting to achieve better farming, which is also in line with the current concept of physical agriculture, in line with everyone's pursuit of environmental protection.

"LEDs have directional illuminance and spectroscopy to customize these characteristics. If only used for lighting, this advantage is not fully utilized, so industry segmentation is an inevitable trend." Jiang Jinsong said.
